Victorian Spirit of ANZAC Schools Competition
The Victorian Spirit of ANZAC Prize Schools Competition invites year nine students in Victorian schools to submit entries, ranging from poems to essays to multimedia presentations, which explore what the Spirit of ANZAC means to young people today.
Entries to the Competition have now closed and the ten students selected to travel on the 2008 Study Tour to Greece and Singapore in April 2008 will be announced in February 2008.
Victorian Veterans Sector Study Report – June 2008
The Victorian Veterans Council has undertaken the first in-depth study of the veteran community to identify the current and future challenges facing them and Ex-Service Organisations (ESOs). Following a series of consultations and a survey of 25 ESOs, the Council presented a report to the Premier and Minister for Veterans Affairs, John Brumby.

Applications for funding to restore, enhance or protect Victorian war memorials and honour rolls are now open. Grants of up to $10,000 are available to help repair, protect, restore and enhance war memorials and honour boards.
Victorian Veterans Council
The Victorian Veterans Council is an independent statutory body established in 2006 under the
Veterans Act 2005. The Council plays an important role supporting Victoria’s veterans and reporting directly to the Premier on issues affecting the Victorian community. In addition to advising the Premier, the Council distributes the ANZAC Day Proceeds Fund and the new Victorian Veterans Fund, and advises the Minister for Consumer Affairs on specific matters relating to the regulation of patriotic funds. Veterans enjoy free travel on the Victorian public transport network on April 24, 25 and 26. To qualify for free travel on Metcard or V/Line ticketed services, veterans simply need to wear their RSL badge, uniform or present their DVA Gold or White card. This Victorian Government initiative helps veterans to meet fellow diggers during the ANZAC Day period.
