New Guide to Victorian War Memorials

Remember Them - A Guide to Victoria's Wartime Heritage cover

General Sir John Monash has a university, a suburb and a freeway named after him, features on our $100 note and is remembered as one of our greatest military leaders. But what about the thousands of other Australians who also made extraordinary sacrifices for our country?

Remember Them is a new guide to Victoria’s wartime heritage. Covering 1,000 memorials in 700 communities across Victoria, this book commemorates the lesser known stories of ordinary Victorians who served their country. Stories from the Boer War, the First and Second world wars, the Korean War, Vietnam and more.

Funded by the Victorian Government, Remember Them was launched by Premier John Brumby on Monday 9 November. Books will be distributed free to all secondary schools, RSLs and other ex-service organisations and can be purchased at bookstores.
