Entries close for 2009-10 Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize


Entries have now closed for the 2009-10 Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize. All entries are now being assessed by the regional panels to select the 27 Regional Finalists. Students who are chosen to be Regional Finalists will be contacted before the start of the Summer vacation. Their names and schools will also be posted on this site.

New Guide to Victorian War Memorials


Remember Them is a new guide to Victoria’s wartime heritage. Covering memorials across the state, this book commemorates the lesser known stories of ordinary Victorians who served their country.

Bringing war history to life


Peter Isaacson was called to war in December 1940 at the age of 27. He survived bombing missions over Germany, lead a ‘proving flight’ from England to Australia in a Lancaster Bomber and once flew under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Peter’s story is one of up to 200 being collected over the next three years as part of the ‘Veterans Digital Story Telling Project’ – an exciting new initiative to capture the wartime stories of Victorian veterans and civilians. Dandenong RSL member wins inaugural Veterans Community Award


John Filmer, 76, of Dandenong North received the inaugural Veteran Community Award at the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards held at Government House on Friday 2 October.

Victorian Veterans Fund Round II open


Applications for the first round of 2009-10 Victorian Veterans Fund have now closed. Applications for the second round of the Veterans Fund close on Monday, 1 February 2010.

Victorian Government Response to the Victorian Veterans Sector Study – June 2009


In June 2009, the Victorian Government released its response to 11 recommendations in the Victorian Veterans Sector Study, produced by the Victorian Veterans Council in June 2008.
